Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injection to treat and improve the appearance of submental fullness, often referred to as a double chin. Submental fullness is common, and until now an undertreated condition, that bothers both men and women. It can be influenced by several factors including aging, genetics, and weight gain and is often resistant to diet and exercise alone. Kybella is injected into the fat under your chin using multiple injections and many see visible results in 2 to 4 treatments. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fats. This acid is injected into the submental fat and essentially destroys the fat cells. These cells cannot store or accumulate fat again and once the cells are destroyed the body naturally metabolizes them. Kybella is administered in our office by our aesthetician and is non-invasive.

After your Kybella treatment you can expect most of the swelling to take place in the first 72 hours and limited swelling up to 2 weeks. You may also experience bruising, numbness, redness, and possible hardness in the treatment area.
